Who busted the pool ?

On today's agenda, I expected to spend the day laying out in the beautiful sun, with a crisp glass of moscato by my side. I made a big West Virginia breakfast which consisted of a bunch of unhealthy but yummy maple smoked bacon, and egg omlets with homemade buttermilk biscuits. I gave my children the pool talk.... No jumping, no diving, and no screaming. (We live in a old community, I don't want my neighbors to have heart attacks) I then gathered up our swimming essentials and headed outside. The pool with its bright blue aurora was calling our names... Until the closer I walked the wetter the grass was.... I didn't think for a second that it could possible be our pool leaking.... Low and behold I walked closer and seen that the water level was so low the pump was running dry.... Guess what I found in the side of the pool, a 2in gash and the weapon of evidence was left at the side of the pool. A very very very sharp stick. Don't ask me how, or why such a thing could happen. Then came the confession "We were playing Temple Warriors and B ran into the pool, gouging a hole in it...... I had to pick my jaw off the ground. So, I calmly walked back into the house, making my way to yellow pages... I was told it would be better for us to buy a brand new one. So there's my day, a pool gone to temple warriors... Children.. I don't know what I do without them. Kids have taught me some valuable lessons about life. Buy the cheapest toy cause they could tear apart a army tank if needed. I informed my DH (Darling Hubby) and he was not thrilled to say the least, the kids asked if he was buying another and he informed them he was not. I don't know who was more upset me or the kids... But that's the story of life I guess. You live and learn. Xoxo Hope
This was the face, when I told him the pool was gone.... LOL with some effects

Puppy Love

I have been super busy lately. The last week and a half has been devoted to feeding puppy's and making sure the momma dog don't squish the puppy's. I love puppy's, I mean who doesn't ? Today is my first day back in my studio, I'm really excited to get back to my normal routine. I have had to walk past my studio room everyday and look at my chair sitting empty, but sometimes we have to push things to the back burner to get everything accomplished. I have a month and a half to sew my tail end off, before school starts back up. Who would have thought I would miss school !?! Trust me I have missed it greatly, it's one of those places where you just fit in. Well I do anyway... Yes I am a big nerd and proud to be one. I am very proud to be apart of the Marshall University Family and wish they would offer some sewing classes, though I haven't found any in the catalog... There has to be at least one right !! You would think anyway.... Enough rattling... Haha ! Xoxo Hope
Look at that Corgi cuteness !

Today's Agenda..

What can I say ? We were buckled down for our severe storm that last lasted just minutes. I'm really done with our weather channel, anyway today has been one of those productive/goof up days. I tore up a pair of shorts from the early 80s in hope of recreating them. I did what I set out to do but only 2 sizes small for my daughter ;( no biggie though I know they will sale at my booth on the weekend. I have been begging a number of my "friends" to come help me cut fabric one day and let's just say there always busy.. So today I had my almost 10 year old come help me and he did a great job ! I only had to pay him with a promise to go bike riding in the evening.... Who would turn that down !?! Today we had one of Ms.G's friends over and they were running through my 2,000 sq ft. House sounding like a heard of elephants I was just praying everything stayed on the walls... Yes it was one of them days... Rain and humidity plus these mountains... Just makes a mess of things. I know tomorrow will be a better productive day, I'm excited to get back in my routine. Till next time... Xoxo Hope

Here is Moo our corgi. A little girl tried to me she could take better care of her today... That's another post ! Haha Enjoy !

As promised ;)

I got just enough of this fabric as a tester for an dress line I'm in the works of completing. Remember all finished products are for sale in my Etsy Shop. All reasonable priced because who can afford those 60.00 customs anyway. I want to bring affordable hand made clothing at a reasonable price, now who couldn't be happy with that ! Any who here's this fabric I thought was darling, I love the cowboys and Navajo prints. Ms. G is in direct lineage of the Cherokee Indian Tribe, that's where she gets her all year round tan, she so tan that grown women are jealous of it. No tanning bed can give the results Ms.G has, and besides who wants to look 40 in their 20's nowadays. Now me on the other hand, I'm pale and proud ! HaHa ! Enjoy and let me know what you think ! Quilt Shop Love Pt.2

Me being the ADD person that I am totally forgot to show off the new material I picked up today. Print with Cowboys and Indians, Classic Navajo print. I think it's pretty exciting stuff, just because I'm a big geek like that. But it's all good, I have the perfect idea in mind. Tomorrow is going to be my recoup day. That's a day where I will be the good hermit I am and make a pot of coffee in the morning and gently sip it all day. Ms. G and Mr. B will be in fierce competition playing board games all day. Hop Scotch Tournaments and Tic Tac Toe Battles. Tomorrow I will post a sneak peek at my new project :)
Good Night

Quilt Shop Love

Today I visited our local quilt and fabric shop here in Barboursville West Virginia, it is a wonderful shop filled with the sweetest women who share the same passion as me. The building the WV Quilt is in reminds you of a 1920's hardware store, with little shops all around. A true West Virginia untouched town, A war memorial overlooks the shop along with artillery cannons for your liking to check out.

Walking in the sweet yellow pansy door, it opens to the wonderful world of quilting, Fabric and notions galore. They have the sweetest patterns there as well. All reasonably priced available for immediate purchase. I caught them during there busy hour with many women working on quilts and cutting Fat Quarter Bundles.
As you can see from the photos this is a true early 1920s hardwood and open floor plan. Along with pews lined up with clearance material. The shop greats you with a Hey ! How are you all today ! The women that work in this shop are always very eager to help you with anything from asking what thread is on sale, to checking your machine out for you.
I loved this fresh quilt right off the printing press itself ! Haha ! You know it's been on a long arm machine, look at those spirals.... The doggies are cute on this quilt.
Yummy Fabric !

Quilts for sale !?!

They also allow consigners ! How awesome is that !
I caught them in action repairing a machine for the shop itself !

Here's the best part ever !
They sale all there scraps, promotion material and all sample material by the pound, they have a stockpile. I could spend all day in here, box after box is like digging for a lost treasure.
Last but not least there beautiful Shop Quilt check it out A California King size quilt hanging. I can help but stand and stare at all the different fabric throughout ! It's size is enough to make you stop and stare. A true beauty in the middle of no where in West Virginia... Who would have know !?!

I enjoyed my visit today and I will be back to see what yummy fabric they have coming in.
Visit your local Quilt Shop and let me know what you think of your areas Quilt Shop !

Yard Sale Up Do !

I drove by a yard sale this morning and spotted this beautiful little glider chair, I immediately put the brakes on my paddy wagon and went to haggle. As I walked up the drive I spotted several things that I could re-do and make something magical out of, but out of the corner of my eye I see my husband starring me down, I quickly started walking faster and dealing quickly, for he was waiting on his Waffle House breakfast. The very nice women sold it to me for 2.00. Oh ! I was thrilled I couldn't hardly sit through breakfast with my darling hubby, I had so many thoughts spinning in my mind. Scrappy Random Up Do is what I wanted, I consulted with my professional helpers ( my children ) and they went through my fabric scraps and dug out what they wanted. I whipped this treasure up in 2 hours, minus lunch and several breaks for monopoly it was finished ! Ms. G ( my daughter ) requested a pillow to set on the back, so we  did that to ! I had to fix the arm with some gorilla glue but nothing that I had to enlist the big tools for. Maybe another day... So here is my tutorial for SCRAPPY RANDOM UP DO.

Here's the Chair.... It needs some TLC

I then consulted with my professional helpers.

They picked out a bunch of fabric scraps.

I took my fabric scraps are starting cutting them in 2in to 4in strips

I cut as many as I needed and layed them over the cushion to see how much fabric I would need, I allowed a 2 in seam to all sides.

I then did the same for the bottom, the pattern was already provided by taking off the previous cover-up.

I sewed it up and this is my finished project !
I wasn't worried about it being straight, because it's for my kids just they way they wanted.
I made a optional pillow for my daughter at her request from more scraps and attached it with lace.
Nothing Fancy and nothing hard.

After a long time Procrastinating...

Just as the title says... A long time procrastinating. I have been urged by my family and friends to start a sewing blog to share my personal sewing mis haps and success. I have been sewing since I was 8, I have always been busy with crafts, I love makin things. I recently got a new machine, so I was super excited to use it. (Thanks, darling hubby) I got busy and did several small projects. But as a mother I often wonder how I have time to compile it all together ! But as mothers we should be called Super Moms ! Cause that's what we are ! So check back often for tutorials and give a ways. I will continue to post ! Xoxo Hope
